Textile CMS Sample Request Register: 14 Fields Before a Carboxymethyl Starch Trial

Carboxymethyl starch (CMS) is a modified starch used as a functional material in textile preparation, printing, sizing and other water-based systems. A supplier sample should not be approved from a product name or one viscosity number alone. A useful trial record connects the exact sample and batch to its preparation method, solution condition, application observation and supporting documents. This lets a buyer compare two CMS samples on the same basis and preserves enough evidence to investigate a later production difference. The register below is designed for procurement and technical teams; it is not a universal recipe, an independent laboratory certificate or a substitute for a buyer's application trial.
Why a sample request needs a data register
The phrase “textile-grade CMS” can cover different intended functions, powder forms and performance ranges. If the buyer records only the supplier name and a viscosity value, the next sample may be impossible to compare. Concentration, water quality, temperature, hydration time, instrument, spindle and speed can all change the reported solution result. Printing-paste behaviour and finished-fabric observations introduce additional variables.
A register does not make unlike tests equivalent. It makes the differences visible before someone treats the numbers as interchangeable.

Keep solution data separate from application results
Prepared-solution viscosity is one test result under one method. It does not by itself prove print definition, screen behaviour, wash-off, fabric handle, sizing performance or compatibility with every dye, pigment and auxiliary system. Record the solution result in one field and the application trial in another. This prevents a process observation from being presented later as if it were a supplier specification.
When comparing samples, use the same preparation and measurement method wherever the objective is a direct comparison. If the method changes, preserve both methods and label the results as separate series.
Connect documents to the physical sample
A TDS describes supplier-published product information. An SDS or MSDS supports hazard communication and handling. A COA normally refers to a particular batch and should be matched to the batch or lot reference on the physical sample. None of these documents replaces the buyer's own application trial.
Save the document filename, issue or revision date, and received date. If a sample is retained, record its storage location, container condition and remaining quantity. This creates a traceable path from the quotation and sample request to the test record and later purchase decision.
Questions to send with the next CMS inquiry
- What is the complete grade name and intended textile application?
- Which sample and batch references will appear on the package and COA?
- Under what concentration, temperature, hydration time, instrument, spindle and speed is the supplier's viscosity range measured?
- Which documents are available for the same grade and batch?
- What packaging format and storage conditions apply to the commercial shipment?
- Which observations should be confirmed in the buyer's own printing or sizing trial before approval?

The Dataset intentionally contains zero observations. It is not a supplier grade table, laboratory certificate, formula or claim that two recorded values are comparable. Populate it only with traceable evidence from the actual sample and declared method.
